COMESA Investigation into Price Announcements by Shipping Companies

The COMESA Competition Commission has commenced investigations into potential violations of the COMESA Competition Regulations by various shipping companies operating in the COMESA region. In particular, the COMESA Competition Commission is investigating price announcements made by the Shipping companies which may constitute prohibited coordinated behaviour or concerted practise distorting the competition in the COMESA region.

Since the coming into force of the COMESA Competition Commission in 2013, agreements between companies which prevent, restrict or distort competition in the African common market are banned.

The COMESA Competition Commission is therefore inviting all interested stakeholders to submit representations on these allegations by 30 April 2022.

You are kindly requested to forward your submissions to the Economic Development Board, Strategic Planning Department, email: vagen@edbmauritius.org / jelina@edbmauritius.org by 28 April 2022.
