The Economic Development Board (EDB) will lead the participation of seven operators in the 2019 edition of Fruit Logistica which will be held from 6th to 8th February 2019 in Berlin, Germany. Fruit Logistica is reckoned as one of the largest fresh produce industry exhibitions which offers exhibitors an opportunity to network with buyers, retailers, wholesalers, distributors and manufacturers from all over the world. The exhibition is also a prominent meeting place to take cognizance of latest developments in the fresh produce industry, market trends and innovative businesses in the fruits and vegetables retailing chain. In 2018, Fruit Logistica attracted over 3,289 exhibitors and 78,000 trade visitors.
A range of products such as pineapples, breadfruits, passion fruits, jack-fruit, avocados, etc will be showcased by Mauritian participants. The exhibition has grown to become a prominent platformfor export-oriented companies. In 2017, fresh produce exports reached MUR 184 million, representing an increase of 4% in value as compared to the previous year.
The aim of the Economic Development Board is to provide the necessary support to exporters of fresh fruits and vegetables to position themselves as prime sourcing companies of quality tropical fruits on the international market.
In line with Government’s policy of fostering exports and market diversification, EDB`s participation to Fruit Logistica will further enhance the image of Mauritius as a producer of quality fresh produce and empower the Mauritian exhibitors and the industry to penetrate new markets and connect with new potential buyers.
