The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Mauritius pays a Courtesy Call to the Economic Development Board

Her Excellency Mrs. Rezina Ahmed, High Commissioner of Bangladesh paid a courtesy call to the Acting CEO of the Economic Development Board, Mr. Ken Poonoosamy this afternoon, Thursday 11th February 2021.

During the meeting, the High Commissioner expressed her appreciation for the cordial bilateral relations between Mauritius and Bangladesh. She also expressed great enthusiasm for increased collaboration between Bangladesh and Mauritius.  

The discussions focused on the avenues of cooperation which can be further developed in the ICT/BPO sector, medical tourism as well as pharmaceutical amongst others.   Moreover, discussions also focused on enhancing regional integration. 

Both sides expressed the willingness to establish stronger business ties through the signing of an MoU between the Economic Development Board (EDB) Mauritius and the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).  The MoU will contribute to further  strengthen investment and trade in areas of mutual interest.  

It should be highlighted that two global Mauritian textile players, namely Ciel Textile and CMT are based in Bangladesh.
