Public Private joint Committee sees confidence renewed for private businesses

The 1st meeting of the Public-Private Joint Committee was held on Friday 22 October 2021 at the Hennessy Park Hotel, Ebene under the Chairmanship of Dr. the Hon. Renganaden Padayachy, Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development.
The high-level meeting saw the participation of about twenty representatives from the private sector and officers from the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development and the Economic Development Board amongst others.
The objective of the Public-Private Joint Committee is to provide an effective and collaborative platform in view of addressing the challenges and tapping into new opportunities.
A presentation was made by Mr. Eric Ng Ping Cheun who was appointed as consultant to facilitate the continuous dialogue between stakeholders.
Private sector representatives welcomed the setting up of the Public-Private Joint Committee and commended the work being undertaken by the Economic Commissions and the working groups set up by the EDB as an effective platform to accelerate recovery and prepare a longer term strategy for the economy.
The Honourable Minister highlighted the importance of continuous public private sector dialogue and the necessity to work together to achieve our development targets. He further reiterated the commitment of the Government to work closely with the private sector and support a strong recovery and growth of the Mauritian economy.
